Wrestling Party

I was sort of the paparazzi at an event my friend Amanda Miller organized quite a few years ago as a surprise birthday party for our friend Tuesday Kay. A wrestling costume was designed  and sewn, and a new identity created- The Wombat. Other wrestlers such as El Burrito and The Gorilla challenged each other in qualifying rounds for the honor of wrestling The Wombat in a specially designed wrestling ring with a full-size birthday cake as the mat. Word spread that this was an event not to be missed. More and more people arrived. The cheer that went up for the final combat was exhilarating and deafening. I heard that the party even got written up in the Village Voice, though I haven’t been able to confirm this. I tried to put this up on YouTube but the soundtrack I chose they chose to block- whoops!
